A period bag is an essential for every girl, whether or not you’ve had your period or not. These kits have everything that you need to face your period. They will help you in every way possible and help you feel confident on your period. Look at the list below to figure out what to put in your own personal period bag!

  1. Pads/Tampons: This is a very obvious addition to a period bag. It's always important to have extra pads and tampons in case your period surprises you. It’s also important to change your pad/tampon every few hours, so having a few extra is always handy. Having pads/tampons are especially important if you haven’t had your period yet. You never know when it will come, so it's important to prepare just in case.

  1. Small Bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide: Hydrogen peroxide prevents stains from setting in. Try putting some hydrogen peroxide in a small spray bottle and then placing this in your bag. Instead of having to wash stained cloth with cold water in a public restroom, you can spray some hydrogen peroxide on it, and then wash it when you get home. The hydrogen peroxide will go a long way, so only a couple of drops are needed. At your local stores, they also have hydrogen peroxide wipes!

  2. Wipes: Flushable wipes are always helpful when you are on your period. They can help clean yourself up after gym or whenever you feel sweaty. These wipes also help with sanitation. Some wipes are antibacterial, so they help kill off bacteria. Wipes help freshen up, so you don’t feel uncomfortable when on your period.

  3. Underwear: A change of underwear is essential to a period bag. You never know when you may suddenly get your period or bleed through clothing. A change of underwear will help you feel cleaner as well, as it prevents more staining on clothing.

  4. Pants: A change of pants is equally as important as a change of underwear. You always need to be prepared for leakage.. Sometimes when your period flow is heavy, you’ll leak, so to avoid blood stains, bring extra pairs of pants. Have different pants based on the season. For example, you can bring a pair of shorts for the summer and a pair of jeans for the winter.

  1. Money: Having emergency money is always important. But keep spare change,as it allows you to use the pad machines in public/school restrooms. Having emergency money also allows you to buy snacks in the cafeteria because when you are on your period, it will feel better when you get energy in your body.

  2. Pain Relievers: Pain relievers help with cramps during your period. They make it easier to deal with pain around your groin and stomach. Pain relievers like Advil, come in travel sizes, so it is perfect for a period bag.You have to be careful with pain relievers. Yes, they can help relieve cramp pain, but different schools have different policies. Always make sure to check with your school to make sure you are allowed to have pain relievers on you.

  1. Plastic Bag: Finally, a plastic bag is necessary to take stained underwear and pants back home. It will make sure that nothing else gets stained on the journey home. It can also be helpful if you have wet clothing. Plastic bags can be very helpful for saving everything else in your backpack from being soiled. They separate clean from dirty and school from period.
